Liposuction helps to get rid of the stubborn fat and skin on the body for a more toned and contoured figure.

Tired of doing those difficult crunches and sit-ups every day to get rid of the fat rolls on the body? Frustrated with different diets and not getting any results?

Having a toned and contoured body is what everybody desires. But that is not the case always! Excessive fat on the body not only affects the person physically but also affects their confidence and self-esteem.

Nishtha Wellness, Vadodara understands this dilemma and offers a perfect solution to get a toned and contoured body with the help of Liposuction.

What Is Liposuction?

Liposuction is a surgical process that counters the excessive fat that has been accumulated in the body and refuses to settle even with vigorous exercising or dieting.

It is a safe and effective method to achieve a toned and contoured body by getting rid of the excessive fat from localized areas like buttocks, thighs, flanks, abdominal area, chest, and even face.

The process literally involves ‘sucking’ out of the fat from the problem areas through specialized medical equipment called Cannulas.

Liposuction can be performed alone or along with other plastic surgery procedures, such as a facelift, breast reduction, or a tummy tuck. It should be noted that liposuction is a surgery for the removal of fat but not a procedure for weight reduction. It removes excess fat from a particular area of body e.g., tummy, waist, thigh, in an otherwise mild to a moderately obese person. Thus it tries to give a balanced figure to the person. Generally, one session of liposuction can remove about 6-10 liters of fat.

Who Are The Ideal Candidates For Liposuction ?

Dr Hiren Bhatt, Board-certified Plastic Surgeon has provided criteria for specifying the ideal candidates for liposuction:

  • Adults within 30% of their ideal weight, who have firm, elastic skin, and good muscle tone.
  • Healthy individuals who do not have a life-threatening illness or medical conditions that can impair healing.
  • Non-smokers Individuals with a positive outlook and specific goals in mind for body contouring
  • If you are bothered by excess fat deposits – located anywhere on your body that doesn’t respond to diet or exercise, liposuction is the right choice for you.

If you fall into the above-mentioned criteria, you are an ideal candidate for liposuction. The surgery is completely gender-neutral and effective on both males and females.

What To Expect At The Consultation With Dr Hiren Bhatt ?

Nishtha Wellness’s expert Dr Hiren Bhatt believes that consultation is of utmost importance before diving into any procedure. During a consultation with Dr Hiren Bhatt, our expert Plastic And Reconstructive Surgeon, he makes sure that he understands the needs and requirements of the patients. He guides them through the entire procedure and explains everything in detail. This helps the patients in making an informed decision regarding the procedure.

During your liposuction consultation Dr Hiren Bhatt will discuss the following points:

  • Your surgical goals
  • Medical conditions, drug allergies, and medical treatments
  • Current medications, vitamins, herbal supplements, alcohol, tobacco, and drug use
  • Previous surgeries
  • Discuss options
  • Recommend a course of treatment
  • Discuss likely outcomes and any risks or potential complications

A consultation can be a vital moment before the surgery as the patient can analyze his or her comfort level with the doctor and understand all the aspects which entail the procedure.

What To Expect Before The Procedure?

Before the procedure, Dr Hiren Bhatt will:

  • Evaluate your general health status and any pre-existing health conditions or risk factors
  • Take photographs in order to analyze the changes after the procedure
  • Advise you to undergo certain general blood and urine tests in order to rule out any other impending issue

How Is Liposuction Performed At Nishtha Wellness ?

The liposuction procedure includes the following steps:

  • Anaesthesia
Medications are administered for your comfort during the surgical procedure. The choices include local anaesthesia, intravenous sedation, and general anaesthesia. Your doctor will recommend the best choice for you.
  • The Incision
Liposuction is performed through small, inconspicuous incisions. First, diluted local anaesthesia is infused to reduce bleeding and trauma. Then a thin hollow tube, or cannula, is inserted through the incisions to loosen excess fat using a controlled back and forth motion. The dislodged fat is then suctioned out of the body using a surgical vacuum or syringe attached to the cannula.
  • Closing The Incision
Post extraction of fat, excess skin if any is excised and the small incision is closed

A consultation can be a vital moment before the surgery as the patient can analyze his or her comfort level with the doctor and understand all the aspects which entail the procedure.

What Is The Recovery Like After Liposuction ?

Most of the patients can be allowed to go home on the same day from Nishtha Wellness, Vadodara. A change of dressing is required after 4 days.  The dressing is also removed at that time. Stitches are self-dissolving types and start dissolving around the 10th day.

The pressure garments are to be worn as long as the doctors feel it is necessary. Most of the patients will be advised to wear it for 3-4 months. Light duty can be resumed after 3- 7 days. Mild weight can be lifted after 2 weeks. Around this time one can resume full work.

Some swelling always occurs in any area of the body that is operated.  Thus, the part which underwent liposuction looks somewhat swollen. About 80% of the swelling goes off in  2 weeks.  It takes 6 to 8 week for remaining swelling to clear.

Though the result of liposuction can be seen even on the operation table, it is best appreciated after 16 to 24 weeks. Some areas of treatment will become stony hard, this will, however, clear with a local massage in about 4-6 weeks’ time. Your improved body contour will be apparent once the swelling and fluid retention commonly experienced following liposuction subside.

Local massage will be advised to most patients about 2 weeks after surgery.

After the operation, the skin shows brownish discolouration and feels ‘bumpy’  that is uneven. It will clear on its own in 4 weeks.

Some patients feel a decreased sensation in the area operated.  This is routine and clears off in about 4-6 weeks.

Does The Fat Refill After Liposuction?

Fat tends to remain in the form of cells in the body.  Liposuction removes these ‘storehouses’ of fat. Thus in principle, there is no recurrent deposition of fat. It has been seen however that when a person shows excessive weight gain, the area that underwent liposuction also shows some increase.

Maintaining a steady lifestyle and a well-balanced diet is necessary to maintain the result of liposuction.

What Are The Risks Associated With Liposuction?

Some of the risks associated with liposuction involve:

  • Anaesthesia Risks
  • Bruising at the sites of incisions
  • Seroma
  • Hematoma
  • Chances of infection
  • Temporary Numbness on the site of surgery
  • Undesirable results

Utmost care is taken at Nishta Wellness, Surat to avoid these risks from turning into a reality.
